Venous Lake

Venous Lake

Description : Venous lakes are small, slightly raised and dark blue soft lesions which occur commonly on the exposed skin of the face, ears, and lips of the elderly. These lesions are not hemangiomas, but represent a focal dilatation or ectasia of a vein or venule and can be emptied of most of their blood by digital pressure.

The venous lake lying upon the antihelix, was emptied of its blood by sustained digital compression as seen in the next photograph.
