Histopathology of a Junctional Nevus

Description : When examined histologically, a junctional nevus is composed of nests of uniform nevus cells, which lie in the lower epidermis above the basement membrane (the epidermaldermal junction). The nevus cells have a cuboidal appearance and resemble melanocytes, although they are arranged in clusters. functional nevi are characterized by a lack of nuclear atypicality.

Well circumscribed nests of uniform nevus cells can be seen in the lower epidermis. H&E 145 x.
