Cutaneous Cysts
Milia

Milia

Description : Milia are multiple, superficially located, whitish, small cysts which arise from the lowest portion of the infundibula of vellus hairs near the level of the sebaceous duct. These small cysts differ from epidermal cysts only in size. Histologically, they are lined with stratified squamous keratinizing epithelium which is only a few cell layers thick, and contain concentric lamellae of desquamated keratin within.

Multiple whitish milia are seen in the conchal bowl of this elderly female.
