Hairy Pinna

Hairy Pinna

Description : While the appearance of hair on the tragus is common with age, the diffuse growth of coarse hair on the pinna is unusual in North Americans. This type of coarse hair, usually distributed over the lower portion of the helix, is found only in males and is a Y -linked (holandric) trait. This development of coarse hairs on the pinna has been termed "hairy pinna." The expression of hairy pinna increases with age, becoming almost complete over 60 years of age. Hairy pinna is most commonly encountered in the male population of India.
