Attached Lobule

Attached Lobule

Description : The attachment of the lobule to the side of the head varies from fully attached (the outer edge of the lobule forming a straight line), to fully detached (a separate lobule that recurves up to the side of the head). The manner of attachment is inherited and is, in part, a racial characteristic. The Oriental lobule is usually attached. In whites the lobule is usually detached. Attached ear lobes appear to be genetically recessive to detached lobes.
