| Description | : | Keloids are characterized histologically by thick, highly compacted bundles of hyalinized collagen lying in a nodular or concentric arrangement. By comparison, in hypertrophic scars the thick hyalinized bundles of collagen gradually become thinner and straighten out in a plane parallel to the surface of the overlying skin. |
