Auricular Cartilage - Medial view
||The funnel of the auricular cartilage extends medially to form the framework for the outer part of the external ear canal. Fibrous tissue binds the medial end of the cartilage to the tympanic bone. The degree of medial extension of the cartilage varies and is most pronounced anteroinferiorly, where it forms the so-called cartilage "pointer." This pointer is a useful landmark for the facial nerve in parotid surgery.
