Embryology 2

Description : The folds of the primitive auricle gradually shift upward and backward. While there is still some controversy about the exact contribution of each hillock, it appears that the first hillock forms the tragus, the second forms the crus of the helix, and the third the major portion of the helix. The trigeminal nerve is the nerve of the first branchial arch and these areas are innervated by the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve, via its auriculotemporal branch.
